From brief to bulk shipment

Concept → shipped order

Check feasibility, indicative minimums and budget before sample development. Then approve specifications and a sample before committing to bulk production. Freight planning can overlap with manufacturing; final inspection and release come before dispatch.

  1. 01

    Define your production brief

OEM starts with your design and specifications; ODM includes manufacturer-led design development. Agree the development scope, design rights and intended garments before work begins.

  2. 02

    Prepare your tech pack

Document measurements, size grading, fabric weight in grams per square metre (GSM), trims, artwork and finishing references. Review missing details and indicative MOQ and pricing before sampling.

  3. 03

    Develop and approve a sample

Review the physical sample for fit, construction, fabric, wash and decoration. Record revisions and the approved specification so the production team has a clear reference for the bulk order.

  4. 04

    Confirm terms and begin production

Finalize quantities, the quotation and the production schedule against the approved sample. Bulk manufacturing covers the agreed cutting, sewing, finishing, labeling and packing requirements.

  5. 05

    Inspect the finished order

Review the finished order against the approved specification and agreed acceptance quality limit (AQL). Confirm the inspection report, any corrective work and the release decision before dispatch.

  6. 06

    Coordinate dispatch and delivery

Plan freight during production, then coordinate dispatch after release. Confirm the shipping method, destination, delivery terms and required documents; production time and transit time are separate.

What to have ready before you start

Speeds up the first conversation

None of the following is required before reaching out — earlier services exist to fill in whatever is missing — but having as much of this ready as possible shortens the time to a first quote:

  • A design reference: your own tech pack, a rough sketch, or a physical garment you want matched.
  • A sense of fabric weight or finish if you have a preference (for example, a specific GSM, wash, or print method).
  • Your target quantity per style and colorway, including the size breakdown and any target unit price.
  • Your delivery country, postcode and target arrival date, so production planning and freight options can be discussed together.
  • Any required labeling, testing, certification or documentation. Specify the product and destination so the applicable scope can be reviewed before sampling.

Which service should you start with?

Two common starting points
New brand, first order

Start with your brief and budget

Share your garment reference, target quantities and budget first. Discuss OEM or ODM production and feasibility, then use tech pack support to prepare the specifications needed for a sample.

Established brand, repeat or new style

Start with a specification review

Send your tech pack and quantity breakdown for a MOQ and pricing review. Identify changes from previous orders, then agree the sample approvals needed before manufacturing.

Frequently asked questions

About the services process
Can I start with a tech pack, and do I need OEM or ODM?

Yes. Send your existing tech pack for a feasibility and pricing review before sampling. OEM uses your design and specifications; ODM includes manufacturer-led design development. If details are missing, discuss tech pack support. Agree design rights and development responsibilities before starting.

What is the minimum order, and can I mix sizes?

FORGEMFG’s published starting MOQ is 50 pieces per style and colorway. Confirm whether your size breakdown can share that minimum and whether custom fabrics, trims or finishes require a higher quantity. Send your breakdown for a project-specific MOQ review before ordering.

How long do sampling, production and shipping take?

The published sampling estimate is 7–15 business days; confirm its start conditions and whether sourcing, revisions and courier transit add time. Bulk production is scheduled against the approved specification and quantity. Freight planning can overlap with production, but dispatch follows order release. Request separate development, production and transit estimates when planning delivery.

Who should I contact about delivery and product requirements?

Send your delivery country, postcode, garment details and required arrival date through our quote enquiry. Include any labeling, testing or documentation requirements. Ask which shipping costs are included and who handles customs clearance, duties and taxes under the proposed delivery terms.

Are samples, revisions and shipping included in the bulk price?

Sample development and bulk production are quoted separately. Request an itemized quotation covering sample fees, revisions, labels, packing and shipping; do not assume these costs are included. Confirm whether any sample charge can be credited against a bulk order. See the pricing factors to prepare your brief.

What happens if specifications change or an inspection finds defects?

A change to fit, fabric, construction or decoration may require a revised sample, price or schedule. Record the changes and confirm any additional charges before proceeding. For inspection findings, agree corrective work, any reinspection and release criteria against the approved specification. Review the quality-control requirements before placing the order.
